IEC 60331-23:Tests for electric cables under fire conditions – Electric data cables
IEC 60331-23:Tests for electric cables under fire conditions - Test Standard:
IEC 60331-23:Tests for electric cablesunder fire conditions--Circuit integrity--Part 23:Procedures and requirements--Electric data cables.
IEC 60331-23:Tests for electric cables under fire conditions - Scope:
This part of IEC 60331 specifies the test procedure and gives the performance requirement,
including a recommended flame application time, for electric data cables required to maintain
circuit integrity when subjected to fire under specified conditions.
It describes the means of sample preparation, continuity checking arrangements, electrical
testing procedure and gives requirements for evaluating test
results.
IEC 60331-23:Tests for electric cables under fire conditions - Sample required:
- the completed cable approximately 1200 mm long
IEC 60331-23:Tests for electric cables under fire conditions - Performance requirement:
Flame application time:
In the absenceof such a cable specification, a 90 min flame application is recommended.
IEC 60331-23:Tests for electric cables under fire conditions - Acceptance criteria:
With reference to the test procedure given in clause 6, the cable possesses the characteristics
for providing circuit integrity so long as during the course of the test
– the voltage is maintained i.e. no fuse fails or circuit-breaker is interrupted;
– a conductor does not rupture, i.e. the lamp is not extinguished.
IEC 60331-23:Tests for electric cables under fire conditions –Relative Standard:
- IEC 60332-3-21:Tests on Electric Cables Under Fire Conditions - Part 3-21: Test for Vertical Flame Spread of Vertically-Mounted Bunched Wires or Cables - Category A F/R
- BS 6387: Test method for resistance to fire for cables required to maintain circuit integrity under fire conditions
- BS 7846:Electric cables – 600/ 1000V armoured fire-resistant cables having thermosetting insulation and low emission of smoke and corrosive gases when affected by fire
